1. Our Privacy Commitment
Your privacy is the core principle of SpeechBeat. We engineered this app from the ground up as a privacy-first utility for video creators. We do not require user accounts, we do not run a cloud backend for your content, and the developer does not collect, store, or have any access to your personal data, audio, raw scripts, or recorded videos.
2. Content Processing and Storage (On-Device)
All of your scripts, AI-polished teleprompter beats, and video recordings are processed and stored exclusively on your physical device using secure, local system storage.
- Data Stored Locally: Raw script text from typing or dictation, AI-polished teleprompter beats, project metadata (titles, workflow states, edit history), and temporary video files generated during the recording flow.
- App Preferences: Your chosen settings, UI configurations, onboarding completion flags, and local freemium save counters are stored locally using standard iOS defaults.
Data Deletion & Device Backups: You have full control over your data. You can delete individual script projects from within the app at any time. Deleting the SpeechBeat app from your device removes all local app data. Please note: If you have enabled system-wide iCloud Device Backups on your iPhone, an encrypted backup of your device's local data may remain in your personal iCloud account until that backup is overwritten or deleted by you.
3. Dictation, AI Formatting & Video Recording
SpeechBeat utilizes your iPhone's native processing power and hardware to transcribe, format, and record your content securely.
- Speech Recognition (Transcription): SpeechBeat uses Apple's native iOS Speech framework to convert your spoken ideas into raw text. We, the developers, never collect, receive, or have access to your audio or transcripts.
- Local AI Processing (Script Polish): SpeechBeat utilizes Apple's cutting-edge, on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence) framework to structure your raw thoughts into readable teleprompter beats. Your unstructured thoughts and the resulting beats are never sent to any external cloud AI providers or the developer.
- Camera & Video Export: Video recording and teleprompter overlays are rendered locally using Apple's AVFoundation. Finished videos remain inside the app's temporary memory until you explicitly choose to export them via the iOS Share Sheet or save them to your Photo Library. The app does not automatically upload your recordings anywhere.
4. Data Collection Policy (What We Do Not Collect)
In compliance with App Store Review guidelines, SpeechBeat confirms that we do not collect user data for our own use. Specifically:
- We do not collect data for analytics, advertising, tracking, or marketing purposes.
- We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party.
- We do not upload your dictation, polished text, or video recordings to any external servers.
- While we require microphone and camera access to function, we only capture audio/video when you explicitly tap to initiate a dictation or recording session. We do not monitor background audio and camera feeds.
5. In-App Purchases and Third-Party Services (Data Processors)
SpeechBeat operates on a freemium model. All core features, including audio capture, AI formatting, and recording, are completely free to use. Users receive 3 free video saves to their Camera Roll. To unlock unlimited saves, we offer a single, one-time "Pro" lifetime purchase. We do not use auto-renewable subscriptions. To manage purchase entitlements securely, we use RevenueCat.
- Transaction Data (Apple App Store): Apple handles all financial details and billing data. We do not receive, process, or have access to your payment methods or credit card details.
- Entitlement Status (RevenueCat): RevenueCat processes anonymous App Store receipt data, purchase status, and a randomized, non-personal user ID to unlock Pro features. Script content, voice recordings, and videos are never shared with RevenueCat.

6. System Permissions and Diagnostics
To provide its core functionality, SpeechBeat requires specific device permissions. You can grant or revoke these at any time in your iPhone's Settings:
- Microphone: Requested exclusively to record your voice during the Capture dictation phase and to capture audio while recording your final video.
- Speech Recognition: Requested to securely convert your spoken audio into text using Apple's native transcription framework.
- Camera: Requested to provide a live preview and record your talking-head video while reading the teleprompter.
- Photo Library (Add-Only): Requested so you can save your finished video recordings directly to your Camera Roll. SpeechBeat uses an "Add-Only" permission, meaning the app is strictly blocked from reading, viewing, or scanning any of your existing photos or videos.
- Diagnostics: SpeechBeat does not use any third-party crash reporting SDKs. If you have opted-in at the iOS system level to share crash diagnostics with developers, we may receive anonymized crash logs directly through Apple's developer tools. These logs contain no personal data, audio, video, or script content.
7. Your Rights and Contact Information
- Control Over Your Data: You manage your permissions (Camera, Mic, Speech, Photos) entirely through iOS Settings. You can delete your script projects directly inside the app.
- Children's Privacy: SpeechBeat is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from them.
- Policy Updates: We may update this policy occasionally to reflect new features. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy if we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
